Should government control the people or should the people control government?

** Mark Lerner will be a guest on the Power Hour with Joyce Riley tomorrow Oct 1st to talk about his book “your Body Is Your ID”**

The Big Questionshould government control the people or should the people control government?

That is the first question we must ask ourselves. If you thing the people should be controlling the government and not the other way around then you will want to read “Your Body Is your ID”

A Surveillance Society or a Free Society?

Orwell’s prediction of a future big brother government came true. Whether acknowledged or not, Americans now live in a surveillance society.

Most of that American public falls into one of the categories the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) calls “potential threats”; environmentalists, animal lovers, anti-war protestors, pro-lifers, evangelical Christians, observant Jews, Constitutionalists, returning veterans, and third party candidate supporters are all “potential domestic terrorists.”

The Real ID Act 2005 mandated that facial recognition technology be used for all drivers’ license photos; facial recognition, a biometric, measures distances between facial characteristics – specific parts of the mouth, eyes, nose and so on — and digitizes this information. Using this technology, each citizen would be enrolled into a single global biometric identification system.

No matter where a person is – Oklahoma City, Oklahoma or Paris, France — that person can be identified with the use of facial recognition technology. Closed circuit television cameras/surveillance cameras (CCTV) and linked computer systems make possible remote surveillance and global information sharing.

About Flocabulary  (it’s just a bit controversial…)

Channel 9 reports VIDEO

By Kelly Ogle, NEWS 9

OKLAHOMA CITY — After looking at “Flocabulary’s” hip hop lessons in the textbooks some Oklahoma City teachers brought to us, I understand their concern.

I scanned through the U.S. History book today. It comes with a CD of rap songs with the printed lyrics in the appropriate chapter. My first impression, white people don’t come out looking very good in these hip hop history songs, and I don’t think we need added racial tension in our schools.

For instance, the chapter on America’s founding fathers is titled “O.D.W.M,” which stands for “Old Dead White Men.” The rap for that chapter includes the lyric, “his slaves be thinking they’re going to jump this boy,” and later “White men getting richer than Enron, they’re steppin’ on Indians, women and blacks.”

Flocabulary Report for the Week Ending Sept. 24, 2010;

Ya’ll know who it is bangin out your speakerbox

Flocab hit you in the week of the equinox
Now that we’ve made it into fall
Lemme go ahead and drop the news for ya’ll
Come on, you may of heard the “Don’t ask, don’t tell”
Policy within the military personnel
Well, it was nearly repealed
I mean that it seemed that its fate was sealed
Until the Senate said “No” on a vote that proposed
For some military changes and speaking of those
I suppose most of ya’ll have heard of the “Dream Act”
Giving citizenship to immigrants if they need that
I mean to be exact it’s for their kids
To serve in the military if they wanna enlist
And here’s an issue that should get examined
They’re talkin’ about genetically engineered salmon
The FDA is about to decide
If they can sell animals that have been modified
Right – and here’s some news for everybody out in Newark
It’s a major donation let me get right to it
The kid who started Facebook gave $100 million
To the schools in Newark to benefit the children
And here’s some news that is not so good
If Bermuda is the place you stay, your neighborhood
They got hit by Hurricane Igor
And saw some destruction on the seashore
And BP said the well got closed
And won’t be a threat to the Florida coast
So we about to go but before we break out
Central in Texas hit us to give a shout
To our homeboy Habram Rosario
Battling leukemia and still got far to go
Give us attention and you know we’ll give it back
The Week in Rap from Flocabulary on the track.

Dan Boren Has District 2 Conservative Steamed

Boren’s vote to adjourn  makes Howard Houchen Blow His Stack!

From Howard’s Blog;

Mr. Blued-Hog himself, OUR illustrious member of the Ruling Class in Washington, Dan Boren, has done it again – REAL GOOD ONE THIS TIME!

In a 210 – 209 vote, OUR U.S. House of Representatives voted to adjourn the House without EVEN CONSIDERING extension of tax-cuts (called the Bush Tax-Cuts).  Guess how OUR main-stream-media and self-described Blued-Hog Rep voted?  You know, the guy who runs around claiming to be all “I’m a fiscal conservative and I think we have too much government and too much spending and too many taxes…”, Mr. Dan Boren voted FOR adjournment while 39 fellow Dems (fellow Enablers) voted with Repubs to discuss the tax-cuts issue further.

Howard W. Houchen is a proud Oklahoman, a Reagan Conservative and constitutionalist. He is a small businessman and graduate of University of Oklahoma with a degree in Political Science and a Masters degree in National Security Studies from American Military University.   He recently ran as a Republican against Dan Boren in Oklahoma’s 2nd District and is now the host of a new conservative political television show, The Road To Liberty.

The Rise of the Fusion-Intelligence Complex

A critique of political surveillance after 9/11

Anthony B. Newkirk

The private sector – the Nation’s principal provider of goods and services and owner of 85 percent of our infrastructure – is a key homeland security partner…
(Office of Homeland Security 2002, viii)
I believe that Fusion Centers will be the centerpiece of state, local, federal intelligence sharing for the future and that the Department of Homeland Security will be working and aiming its programs to underlie Fusion Centers… [T]he private sector… can…also provide vital support for the sustainability of Fusion Centers… (Janet Napolitano 2009)

A report by Privacy International (2007) ranked the United States of America and Great Britain as “endemic surveillance societies” along with China, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand. These findings are not surprising. But a significant, albeit unheralded, fact is that political surveillance is undergoing significant organizational changes in the context of neoliberal globalization. In the United States, for instance, this relationship is defined less by customary state forces and, increasingly, by interlocking public-private partnerships. Largely overlooked in these developments is the creation of entities known as “fusion centers.”

The Children’s Identification and Location Database

What is The Child Project™?

The Children’s Identification and Location Database (CHILD) Project is a secure nationwide network and registry that was created in conjunction with the Nation’s Missing Children Organization (NMCO) and National Center for Missing Adults (NCMA) – www.theyaremissed.org. The Child Project™ enables law enforcement and social service agencies throughout the country to locate and positively identify missing children and adults with iris biometric recognition technology. Through this network, The Child Project™ compares the unique features contained in the iris against a database of individuals who enroll throughout the country to determine the identity of an individual. Complementing fingerprinting identification and related programs now in place, The Child Project™ captures a digital photograph of the individual’s iris, along with basic demographic information. Unlike existing fingerprint identification programs, The Child Project™ has created and maintains a national registry to give social service agencies, law enforcement, and other authorized users of the system, access to data that can positively identify children in seconds.

The DNA Chip-YOU on a Smart Card

Kaye Beach

Sept. 27, 2010

If you (like me) are still fuming over  facial recognition, fingerprints and potentially RFID on your driver’s license, wait till you see what is coming up…..

DNA Chip technology embedded into Smart ID Cards;

Lockheed Martin and ZyGEM have developed an advanced DNA analysis system powered by a single, small processor.

“Our law enforcement, homeland security and defense communities face a significant challenge in how quickly they can confirm an individual’s identity,” explained LM spokesperson John Mears.

“[So], we essentially [designed] a [DNA] laboratory on a small, single chip that reduces the processing steps and time needed for analysis.

“[What previously took] days or weeks to complete [is now] an affordable, on-site process [lasting] less than an hour.”

A prototype RapI.D. system is already operational at ZyGEM’s Virgina MicroLab laboratories . . .

Applied DNA Sciences, Inc. Signs Joint Development Agreement with Par Worldwide Group, Inc.

This integration will include placement of the DNA chip directly into smart card technologies and government issued ID cards. In addition, the DNA-embedded technology will be placed directly into ink for the development and printing of ID cards, among other security products.

“Our partnership with Par Worldwide will provide us with an experienced research, development, manufacturing and sales team in the Biometric and smart card arenas,” said Larry Lee, chief executive officer of Applied DNA Sciences, Inc. “The initial focus of this program will be to apply our DNA-embedded technology to conform to International ISO standards for immediate roll-out.”

. . .The Applied DNA Chip function is versatile, allowing it to be integrated into the form of a slot reader, slide through reader, or contact point reader for instant authentication. An authentic DNA chip will generate an analog signal and be received by the reader after the chip is stimulated. An LCD display screen provides immediate authentication by reading the unique DNA signals embedded in the chip.

. . .Applied DNA Sciences, Inc.’s proprietary anti-counterfeit Applied DNA(TM) Ink technology will be integrated in the Biometric applications. The DNA sequences within the ink are used as tools to differentiate and verify product authenticity. The proprietary overt ink technology allows for on-site, real time authentication, using a proprietary instant detection feature of the ink.(Emphasis Mine)

Accidental overdoses alarm military officials

By Andrew Tilghman and Brendan McGarry – Staff writers
Posted : Wednesday Jun 9, 2010 10:24:51 EDT

At least 32 soldiers and Marines assigned to their services’ most-supervised medical units for wounded troops have died of accidental prescription drug overdoses since 2007.

The 30 soldiers and two Marines overdosed while under the care of special Army Warrior Transition Units or the Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment, created three years ago to tightly focus care and attention on troops suffering from severe physical and psychiatric problems as a result of combat.

Most of the troops had been prescribed “drug cocktails,” combinations of drugs including painkillers, sleeping pills, antidepressants and anti-anxiety drugs, interviews and records show. In all cases, suicide was ruled out.

Oklahoma Kiddies Getting Naked for the Cause

**UPDATE BELOW**

Sept 26, 2010

by Kaye Beach

You may be aware of the continuing controversy over the NAKED BODY SCANNERS being installed in airports nationwide.

‘The Naked Truth about TSA’s Naked Body Scanners’

Among the issues raising the hackles of the public are;

  • DHS repeatedly and provably lieing about the capabilities of the devic es to store and transmit images.
  • Privacy concerns surrounding the nude images of passengers produced by these devices.
  • Health and safety of the devices

You might not be aware of lawsuits over using prisoners and visitors to correction facilities undergoing forced submission to the body scanners;

Prisoners forced to submit to radiation experiments for private foreign companies

Regulations at 28 CFR §§ 512.11 and 512.12 prohibit the government from using inmates for this type of experimentation and require them to give both the inmates and the public notice of their intent to use inmates as test subjects as well as all of the possible effects related to being subjected to any such experimentation – and then only on a voluntary basis. See also Administrative Procedure Act, 5 U.S.C. § 551(4) and 5 U.S.C. § 553(b)-(d).

Despite the clearance of some CT scanners (Rapiscan), the FDA’s website shows that no data has ever been presented to the agency as to the safety of these devices and states that it has never approved these devices as being safe because “some Food and Drug Administration officials were worried that full-body CT screening scans (Rapiscans) ‘may be exposing thousands of Americans to unnecessary and potentially dangerous radiation’ and that CT scans of the chest delivered 100 times the radiation of a conventional chest x-ray … between .2 to 2 rads of radiation during a single scan.” See, e.g., Virtual Physical Ctr-Rockville, LLC v. Philips Med. Sys., 478 F.Supp.2d 840, 842-43(D. Md. 2007) and “FDA Raises Body Safety Issue” by Marlene Cimons in the Los Angeles Times, June 5, 2001.

What I am almost positive that you are not aware of is that in 2001 this type of technology and others was tested on 8th graders in Oklahoma Public Schools.

Quantum Magnetics and Owasso OK — School District Sign Cooperative Agreement to Improve School Security

SAN DIEGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–June 6, 2001

Quantum Magnetics, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of InVision Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: INVN), and Owasso (Oklahoma) Public Schools signed an agreement, joining in a cooperative effort to improve school security and remove the threat of weapons on school grounds. The agreement calls for the two parties to cooperate in acquiring and analyzing concealed weapons detection data and developing security system deployment strategies.

. . . In 2000, Quantum engineered its passive weapons detection sensors into a commercial product. Unlike metal detectors, this technology combines high detection probability with an image showing the precise location of the weapon. In addition, it can be configured to scan — inconspicuously — large numbers of people at entrances of public buildings such as schools and courthouses.

Hearing about the technology’s promise earlier this year, Mr. Dale Johnson, superintendent of the Owasso School District, contacted Quantum Magnetics to inquire into the status of the research.

. . .Hearing about the technology’s promise earlier this year, Mr. Dale Johnson, superintendent of the Owasso School District, contacted Quantum Magnetics to inquire into the status of the research. In response, Quantum Magnetics’ President and CEO, Dr. Lowell Burnett, visited Owasso to discuss the company’s plans for testing the company’s sensors in a school environment. The first of a series of tests were recently completed at the Eighth Grade Center in Owasso, Oklahoma, and Quantum’s scientists and engineers are currently analyzing the data at their research facility in San Diego.

. . .Quantum develops and commercializes promising technologies such as quadrupole resonance (QR), magnetic resonance (MR), low-cost magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and magnetic tensor gradiometry (MTG).

What the heck does quadrupole resonance  do?

Quadrupole resonance, according to Quantum Magnetics “detects explosive concealed under and individual’s clothing”

I don’t know if they used it to scan the kids or not but I am going to try and find out just exactly what they were testing and researching in Owasso schools.

There will be MUCH more to come on this issue.  In the meantime, Oklahoma parents should be contacting their school districts and asking some questions.

Said he received my records request.

Recieved a message from Superintendent Ogilvie today stating that he received my records request but that there  are no records on file at his location.  He stated that he has no awareness of this agreement nor does former Superintendent Johnson.

“No records exist” according to Dr. Ogilvie.

The headline of the article that caught my attention in the first place is;
