OK2A Alert Feb 7, 2011

Open Government Rule

Monday, as the 2011 legislative session begins, the State House will adopt rules that will govern their operations for the next two years.  One resolution that will be offered Monday, HR1004, is essential for the success of the liberty agenda.  HR1004 would require that bills be given a fair hearing both in committee and on the floor of the House.  You may remember, last year Rep. Sue Tibbs, as the chair of the House Public Safety Committee, held up several pro-Second Amendment bills.  She alone had the power to decide the fate of bills assigned to the committee she chaired.  Without this rules change, this year will just be more of the same.  Please call or email your Representative immediately and ask them to vote for HR1004HR1004 will be heard today sometime shortly after noon.  Please call or email this morning and tell your Representative that you expect them to support HR1004.

The House switchboard number is (405) 521-2711 or (800) 522-8502.  The switchboard operator will transfer you to your Representative’s office.  If you want to look up their direct line, you may do so on the House website.  If you are unsure who your Representative is, you can click the “Find My Representative” link on the left side of the House Home Page.  If you would like to read HR1004, you may download it here.  For more information, you may contact OK2A at (918) 844-4243 or at info@ok2a.org.
