Three More Cities Vote to Ban Red Light Cameras

Kaye Beach

Nov. 8, 2012

A little post-election good news for liberty lovers.  3 cities vote to ban the scameras!

From the Newspaper.com Nov. 7, 2012

Tuesday proved to be another bad day for photo enforcement firms as they lost further ground at the ballot box. Questions on whether red light cameras or speed cameras ought to be banned came before municipal voters in California, New Jersey, Texas and Washington state.

Voters in League City, Texas spoke loudest against the use of red light cameras. At the end of the evening, 77 percent of the electorate sent a message to the city council that they wanted the automated ticketing machines removed.

“There is absolutely no doubt now that voters in Texas have resoundingly rejected the entire premise of photo enforcement,” Byron Schirmbeck, director of League City Camera Scam, told TheNewspaper. “Five out of five times that voters in diverse cities and towns have been given a chance to have their say at the ballot box the cameras have been rejected by as much as 77 percent.”

The message was reinforced with photo enforcement foes pulling off a clean sweep against incumbent city council members. Heidi Thiess defeated the number-one camera supporter, Councilman Mick Phalen, and Geri Bentley ousted Councilman Phyllis Sanborn who had voted to approve the camera contract. Todd Kinsey opposes cameras heads to a run off after landing 49.9 percent of the vote against two other candidates for an open council seat.

The most hotly contested battle took place in Murrieta, California where Tea Party activist Diana Serafin worked a continuous, door-to-door campaign to secure enough signatures to put a red light camera ban on the ballot. ATS and arch-rival Redflex Traffic Systems teamed up to defeat her effort, spending heavily on campaign mailers designed to convince people to support photo ticketing. It did not work.

“People told me they don’t believe anything on the five flyers sent out,” Serafin wrote in an email to supporters. “I made sure to tell everyone how much money the camera companies invested to fight me. They spend $105,000 to my $2000!”

List of Injuries and Usurpations by Amanda Teegarden, OK-SAFE

Kaye Beach

July 10, 2012

At the Rally for Healthcare Independence held at the Oklahoma State Capitol on July 7, 2012, Amanda Teegarden, Exec. Director of OK-SAFE Oklahomans for Sovereignty and Free Enterprise, listed some of the injuries and usurpation committed by our elected officials.  These are all worth a closer look and I have taken the liberty of adding links that reinforce or expand on the points she made.

Listen to Amanda Teegarden’s speech;

Transcript of speech;

1.  “We have experienced the refusal by our elected officials to hear and advance legislation requested by “We the People” of their own home districts. Instead, these same officials have chosen to ridicule the people of their districts, manipulate the legislative process, make false statements about time constraints, ignore their own House rules, all the while justifying their actions.”

2. “Our officials have continued to grow government by the establishment of an ever increasing number of authorities, boards, commissions and trusts.  These are called the ABC’s.  These unelected bodies consist of people appointed from a small pool of  political insiders.  These entities meet in private and make rules that govern the rest of us, favor their friends with contracts, they are accountable to no one and do not represent or serve the people of Oklahoma.   These unelected bodies can solicit and receive federal grants, award contracts, issue bonds and incur debt that the rest of us have to guarantee.”

(ABC’s Click on the picture below if you would like to take a gander at the mind boggling number of Agencies, Boards and Commissions that exist in our state to manage just about every facet of our lives.)

3. “Our Elected officials, while claiming to be for limited government and reduced taxation, have worked to increase the size and scope of state government by implementation of something called Public-Private Partnerships. This corrupt ménage-a-trois is the model for the so-called New Economy – it marries Government with Industry and Academia. This European model is exclusionary in practice and is funded by the backs of the people in the form increased government spending and taxes, bonds, and tax credits for the government partners.
4.“Our Elected officials have increased the financial burden of the people of Oklahoma by approving ever-increasing state budgets – now at a whopping $6.8 billion for 2012.”
5. ‘Our Elected officials have levied taxes in a stealth manner – calling them fees instead. One such fee increased by 300% in one fell swoop. Officials justified this action by stating that “the fee had not been increased in a while”’

6. “Our Elected officials have continued to grow government by the establishment of an ever increasing number of A, B, Cs – Authorities, Boards, Commissions, and Trusts.
-These unelected bodies consist of people appointed from a small pool of political insiders. These entities meet in private, make rules that govern the rest of us, favor their friends with contracts. They are accountable to no one, and do not represent or serve the People of Oklahoma.
– These unelected bodies can solicit and receive federal grants, award contracts, issue bonds, and incur debt that the rest of us have to guarantee.
– One such entity is the Oklahoma Health Information Exchange Trust, or OHIET. Have you ever heard of the OHIET? They’re busy laying the foundation for “ObamaCare” in the state of OK, using Stimulus money and federal grants to do so, awarding contracts to companies their members have vested interests in.
-Authorities, Boards, Commissions, and Trusts are the unelected “fourth branch of government” – advancing the interests of the rich and powerful, not the people of Oklahoma.”
7. “Agents and Agencies of our State Government are busy Reinventing that traditional institution – transforming the state of Oklahoma from a representative Republic -a government of, for, and by the people – toward a “Governance” model. The state and its agencies are to be managed by a “technocratic elite” for the use and benefit of certain corporations and the progressives in both parties.
This reinvention is being spearheaded by at least one recently instituted cabinet position – namely the Office of the Chief Information Officer. This agency is busy consolidating and concentrating power into the hands of a very few agents. Welcome to Government 2.0! Welcome to Technocracy! Governance by “Experts”!
8. “This state has entered into information-sharing compacts that allow the transmittal of highly personal information about you – your health, school, and work, your life and lifestyle choices, how many fruits and vegetables you eat and whether or not you exercise. This information is being shared across jurisdictions, across state lines, with the federal government, and with others unknown to us. All without the people’s informed consent.”

The assaults on Liberty continue with:
9. The stealth implementation of the REAL ID Act, creating a de-facto national – no, international -identification card, one that requires:
– The collection of personally identifiable biometric information
– Facial recognition quality photos on our drivers licenses and IDs
– And by refusing to pass the legislation that would have prohibited RFID tags in the OK drivers licenses!
10. “The forced installation of Smart Meters on our homes, in furtherance of the global Smart Grid
-These meters serve to monitor every activity inside our homes.
11. Oklahoma State officials have now allowed DRONEs to fly over Oklahoma – for surveillance of its own people. This is an inappropriate use of the military’s war fighting surveillance technologies. We are not the enemy! Those same officials are praising the deployment of drones on U.S. soil as evidence of ‘job creation'”
12. “Our Elected officials just this year put a cap on the use of freshwater in this state. Called the Water for 2060 Act, this law says that “the public policy of this state is to establish and work toward a goal of consuming no more fresh water in the year 2060 than is consumed statewide in the year 2012”; How are we to live, grow and prosper with such an egregious and arbitrary cap on freshwater usage?”
13. “Finally, our elected officials have been implementing, while denying that they are doing so, all the provisions of “ObamaCare” in the state of Oklahoma.”

They have allowed for the creation and advancement of an electronic health record on every single person, whether they wanted one or not.
– This electronic health record begins at birth with an electronic birth certificate, tracks us through school, into our work, and makes record of our lifestyle choices – virtually our every activity. This record continues until we’re dead, making “health care reform” truly cradle-to-grave.
– Health care reform allows for “human subject research” without the knowledge or the informed consent of the person.
– These electronic health records link the patient, the provider and the payer together – in a nationwide – correction! In a global health information network.
– Our Elected officials have continued to work to establish an “ObamaCare” insurance exchange in Oklahoma. These insurance exchanges completely redesign the insurance industry market and insert a middle man into the traditional business model. The end result will be increased costs for all of us.
– Our Elected officials have claimed that they can establish a “state-based exchange”, one that is different from the federal government’s version. What they are not telling the people is that there is only one way an exchange will work – and that is the federal way. Oklahoma has been laying the groundwork for this for years – is it likely they’ll abandon that now?
– Despite the people saying NO to the exchanges, there are still those who continue to press for their establishment in this state.

(Health Care Reform Defined)

14. The burdens on the people of Oklahoma are already great – we can carry no more. Whether by Compact or by Tax we must not implement ObamaCare!”

Minnesota-Drug evaluator program suspended by Public Safety Commissioner

Kaye Beach

May 9, 2012

Last week I posted an unbelievable story on the police actually providing drugs to Occupy protester, Why are the COPS Giving Drugs to Occupy Protesters?

Here is a follow up from The Downtown Journal posted today.

Drug evaluator program suspended by Public Safety Commissioner

UPDATED May 9, 2012, 11:07am

By Nick Halter

Minnesota Public Safety Commissioner Mona Dohman has suspended the state’s Drug Evaluation and Classification program and launched an investigation of the program amidst allegations that officers gave drugs to people.

In a press release, Dohman announced that an officer said he witnessed a Hutchinson police officer giving marijuana to the subject of the DEC program. She’s directing her department’s Internal Affairs Division to investigate, and also said the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has launched a criminal investigation.

The investigations come less than a week after OcuppyMN protesters posted a video on YouTube showing out-state law enforcement agencies persuading protesters to get into the cruisers. The protesters say in the video that officers gave them drugs at a Richfield location.

Supreme Court Rules Landowners May Challenge EPA on Weltlands Ruling

Kaye Beach

March 21, 2012

Remember this case?

In 2005 Mike and Chantell Sackett purchased a vacant lot in a fully built-out portion of property along the shores of Priest Lake, in northern Idaho, with the ideas of building a modest 3-bedroom home. In 2007, they started work, but were forced to stop when the EPA claimed they were filling a wetland without a permit.

Today the Supreme Court unanimously reversed a lower court opinion that prevented the Sackett’s from challenging the EPA in its order to stop preparing their land for building and to restore the property to its original condition.  The EPA claimed this power under the Clean Water Act and told the couple that the fine  for noncompliance could be as high as s 75,000 per day.

All the Sackett’s have won really is the right to take the EPA to court and challenge their claims but that is a start.

The Washington Post reports;

“There is no reason to think that the Clean Water Act was uniquely designed to enable the strong-arming of regulated parties into ‘voluntary compliance’ without the opportunity for review–even judicial review of the question whether the regulated party is within the EPA’s jurisdiction,” wrote Justice Antonin Scalia. read more

SB 1629 is on hold pending Supreme Court action

Oklahoma State Legislature

For Immediate Release: March 8, 2012

SB 1629 is on hold pending Supreme Court action

The Legislature will wait until after the U.S. Supreme Court rules on the constitutionality of the federal health care law before proceeding with Senate Bill 1629, legislators announced Thursday.

The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to rule this summer, perhaps as early as June, on a legal challenge brought by several states alleging the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is unconstitutional.

Should the high court overturn the law, the possibility exists that health insurance exchanges would not be necessary. And should the high court uphold the federal law, nuances within the majority opinion could help legislators craft the most effective Oklahoma-based marketplace possible to defend against the imposition of a federal exchange.

Given these dynamics, legislative leaders and the chairmen of the Joint Committee of Federal Health Care Law have opted to wait until the outcome of the Supreme Court proceedings before moving further forward with SB 1629. If the court upholds the law, the Legislature is already prepared to continue defending against federal intervention into the Oklahoma health care market.

“There are many common-sense solutions conservatives can agree on to lower the cost of healthcare, expand access and choices to more individuals, and increase the quality of our care – all through tried-and-true principles of the free market,” said Sen. Gary Stanislawski, R-Tulsa, co-chairman of the Joint Committee on Federal Health Care Law.

“These are ideas worth pursuing, and we eagerly await the Supreme Court’s repeal of ObamaCare so we can begin the very serious business of addressing our healthcare challenges with solutions that expand freedom instead of government,” Stanislawski said.

The Joint Committee on Federal Health Care Law met five times throughout the interim to determine the effect the law will have on Oklahoma. Among its recommendations was to craft a state-based marketplace in order to prevent the federal government from imposing a federal exchange in Oklahoma.

“If the court doesn’t reject this law as we hope, developing a state-based exchange remains our best defense against unwanted federal intervention,” said Rep. Glen Mulready, R-Tulsa, the committee’s other co-chairman. “We think we have fashioned a good plan. We are willing to wait to ensure we have the best possible solution to protect Oklahoma from federal intervention.”

Legislative leaders supported the committee co-chairmen’s decision.

“Republicans in the state Senate will do everything in our power to block ObamaCare in Oklahoma. When President Obama rammed through a trillion dollar unconstitutional assault on the healthcare freedom of Oklahomans, he proved his values are fundamentally at odds with ours,” said Senate President Pro Tempore Brian Bingman, R-Sapulpa. “The fight to preserve healthcare freedom is far from over.”

“Developing a state-based solution has always been and remains the best, most realistic way to defend against a federal exchange. The reality is we’re not yet at the point where we absolutely have to deploy that defense,” said House Speaker Kris Steele, R-Shawnee. “Should the time come, we’ll be prepared to act thanks to the groundwork the committee has laid for us.”

The Plan to Entrench ObamaCare and How Oklahomans Can Fight Back

Kaye Beach

Jan 28, 2012

Secretary of HHS, Kathleen Sebelius reveals the plan to ensure that the government takeover of our health care becomes hopelessly entrenched.

(For Oklahoman’s who are serious about resisting this there are three things listed below that you can do now to stop it.)

First they shock the heck out of us with the whole health care reform law, then wear us out fighting it (even in our own states where leaders have vowed to oppose it), we pass our little resolutions, throw some papers at the court  and wonder what else we can do.  We are tired.

Sebelius plans to add a little sugar and if history bears her out, we will get used to the idea and eventually accept it and forget all about our silly little principles and move on to the next big battle that Big Momma Gov. also  intends to win.

January 19, 2012 –

 “The more we educate people about the law, the more they’ll be able to take advantage of the benefits. The more they take advantage of the benefits, the harder it will be for opponents to take those benefits away. Once you have something and you like it and you’re using it, you will fight with your own member of Congress to keep it.” (HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius)

This strategy may insult you but it may not a bad one.   When you really break it down you will find the reason in it.

While most Americans say they oppose the Health Care Reform Laws what most really oppose is the government forcing an individual to purchase health insurance.  But there are a lot of other little goodies mixed in to ease that bitter pill.  Goodies like insurers being forced to cover your kids till they are 26.

Big Momma Gov. has been taking our temperatures;  continuous polling of the American public shows that we aren’t nearly so opposed the portions of the law that happens to directly benefit us.  We should be though.  Those goodies come at the same price as the individual mandates-more government control and less liberty.  Remember that.

In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock.   –Thomas Jefferson

So while we are outraged (and rightly so!) on principle, Sebelius is simply betting that our love of comfort and expediency is stronger than our backbone.

At some point we must either prove our mettle or just give up and go quietly into that good night.  I am telling you all this for a reason.  We have a small window of opportunity right now to actually stop this.

Please don’t wait for the Supreme Court.    No matter what the Supreme Court says about the individual mandate, the takeover of our health care will still proceed.  It may proceed a little more or less quickly,  but it will proceed unless we choose to take action.

Obama lawyers argue rest of health law can survive

If you do not want ObamaCare and you are tired of rolling over for one outrage after another here are three important things that you can do to put Big Momma Gov. back in her place.

#1 Get educated!

The policies placed by our state legislature, more than anything,  will determine the future of health care in Oklahoma.  Learn how the legislative process works so you can advocate effectively for the correct outcome.

OK-SAFE is conducting its’ annual Citizen Involvement in the Legislative Process training.

OK-SAFE writes;

. . .last year’s  HB 2130, dealing with the health insurance exchanges, is still a live round. This highly controversial bill passed the OK House by a narrow margin on March 17th, 2011.  Due to backlash the bill was not heard in the Senate; however, since it passed the House and simply was not heard yet in the Senate, it is still an active bill.

. . .What has to happen is a reversal of the groundwork laid out already, by repealing past enabling legislation.  (See OK-SAFE’s Exposing Health Care Reform website, Oklahoma Timeline, for details.) read more from OK-SAFE

Smart Meters: Experts say. . .

The Electronic Frontier Foundation

Without strong protections, this information can and will be repurposed by interested parties.”

The Department of Energy

“Consumers should decide whether and for what purposes any third-party should be authorized to access or receive CEUD.” [Customer Usage Data]

The NASUCA states that “. . .the consumers are the ultimate owners of their energy consumption data.” And that “the customer must own her or his home energy usage data, have consistent access to that data for personal review in a usable format, be fully informed of what data is flowing to and from the meter, to whom the data is flowing, and with what frequency the data is communicated.” And …consumers should have the choice to participate in any advanced metering program or in any dynamic pricing schedule that may involve data sharing arrangements.

“Medical and other critical care equipment in the home environment may not work, or work properly due to electronic interference from smart meters” Sage Associates

CT Attorney General George Jepson states;

“Connecticut Light & Power Co.’s plan to replace existing electric meters with advanced technology would be very expensive and would not save enough electricity for its 1.2 million customers to justify the expense”

Computer-security researchers say new “smart” meters that are designed to help deliver electricity more efficiently also have flaws that could let hackers tamper with the power grid in previously impossible ways.

 Molly Jenkins

First up is, we are pleased to welcome Molly Jenkins from Edmond Oklahoma.  Molly is a founding member of GEL (Govern Edmond Locally), a homegrown grassroots group of citizens that are taking an active interest in their local government.  The City of Edmond invited residents to get involved and give input into the governing of their city and the citizens took them at their word.  What happened next was inspiring. . . or exasperating, depending on your viewpoint.

December 6, 2010

Protesters cut short Edmond sustainability forum

Molly was instrumental in bringing the citizens of Edmond together in opposition to the city’s membership in ICLEI,  the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives.  The City of Edmond subsequently dropped its membership with ICLEI joining with at least half a dozen communities around the nation who have done the same.

GELS’s mission statement is simple: Restore Constitutional governance at the local level in Edmond, OK.

Molly Jenkins will be speaking at a Townhall Meeting on August 9, 2011 at 7pm at the Edmond Community Center,
28 E Main St, Edmond, OK 73034, USA

 Laurette Lynn-the Unplugged Mom.

Unconventional, uncensored and unscripted; smart, serious and sometimes snarky host of Unplugged Mom Podcast, a popular web talk podcast for home educators, and other outside-the-box thinkers and founder of the popular blog UnpluggedMom.com .

If you ask Laurette why she home educates she will tell you;

“I do it because my kids are my responsibility.  My responsibility.  Their health, their welfare, their well-being, their intellectual stimulation – are all my responsibility, not society, not my village, not school;  Mine.  I am not afraid of that.”

If the idea of educating your children in the home seems daunting, listen to this lady and be inspired!

Heads Up!

Rant ahead!  Howard has a burr under his saddle over the creation of the “super congress”  Find out what a “poliburo” is and why the “super congress” is a very BAD idea.

Howard says;

“On 01 August 2011, OUR legislators in America created The Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction.  Congress (central-committee –for those still following the analogy) created what has been dubbed the “Super-Congress” because, by its rationale, the urgency of America’s deficit problem cannot await action by it as a whole body.  Hmmm…did you read the opening quote at the beginning of this article?  Ladies and gentlemen, American government has created a POLITBURO!”

Also we will give you the latest news on my “Real ID Reckoning”  which is attracting some attention on the national level as well as local and sparking debate.

Dec 6, 2010 Edmond

the City of Edmond’s Planning Commission held its first Sustainability Forum.

The meeting didn’t last long due to a number of residents who were asking questions about the new plan and its origins.

Dec 6, The Edmond Sun Protesters cut short Edmond sustainability forum

Here is what the notice about the forum posted at the city’s website www.edmondok.com says.

“The City of Edmond Planning Department wants to hear the public’s ideas and priorities to be included in Edmond’s first Sustainability Plan.”

Shannon Entz. the forum leader and community development manager explains the purpose of the Edmond Sustainability Forum;

“The Edmond Sustainability Forum was created by the Planning Department and designed for Edmond residents to share their ideas and priorities for sustainable conservation efforts in their community” (My emphasis)

She goes on to say that “City staff would then take those recommendations to implement in a grass roots community plan” Link

“Sharing ideas and priorities” can be a messy process.  In fact it usually is a messy process, so why were they so surprised?

One thing that stood out to me as an outside, if not impartial observer, is that it seems like one key decision has already been made for all of the residents of Edmond and that was the decision that there will be a “sustainability” program implemented with all that this amorphous word implies

Edmond residents wanted to know what “sustainability” meant before proceeding.  It is important to define your terms especially in a governmental sense- which means policy making.   The reason that this is important is that policy changes will affect everyone… your property and your pocketbook.

The meaning of the word “sustainability”, that the policy is being predicated upon is, in fact, a crucial point.

Conspiracy?

Where in the heck would people get the idea that the United Nations had anything to do with Edmond’s sustainability plan?

Maybe they used Google and got it from the ICLEI website.

From ICLEIUSA.ORG

According to the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development, sustainability means “meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”

Sustainability is not an end goal, but a journey that local governments can take to improve the social equity, environmental, and economic conditions in their jurisdiction

http://www.icleiusa.org/action-center/planning/sustainability-planning-toolkit/planning-overview/introduction

Still not much of a definition for the term ‘sustainability”  but if you are like most Americans whose hackles are raised by idea of the UN messing around in US policy, there might be enough on that page to get you going.

ICLEI has been working hard on giving its website a nice makeover and scrubbing all but the vaguest references to Agenda 21 and the UN but everything you need to know is still out there.  I found this ICLEI presentation to be very instructive;

ICLEI Member Benefits

*ICLEI – The International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives aka Local Governments for Sustainability

ICEI’s stated purpose:

A Worldwide Movement of Local Governments
Through its international programs, and projects, ICLEI works with local governments to generate political awareness of key themes by:

  • establishing plans of action to meet defined, concrete, measurable targets
  •  working toward meeting these targets through the implementation of projects
  •  evaluating local and cumulative progress toward sustainable development

International Goals
Our programs, and projects promote participatory, long-term, strategic planning process that address local sustainability while protecting global common goods. This approach links local action to internationally agreed-upon goals and targets such as:

Meeting Milestones
A fundamental component of our performance-based model is the milestone process. Each of our initiatives incorporates a five-milestone structure to guide participating local governments:

  1. establish a baseline,
  2. set a target,
  3. develop a local action plan,
  4. implement the local action plan,
  5. measure results

According to the Capitol Research Center;

ICLEI is well-liked by mayors and city council members because it shows them how to promote climate change initiatives and then does their work for them.

New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg has called ICLEI’s leadership “invaluable” because its “expert technical assistance was instrumental in helping us to complete our first-ever greenhouse gas inventory last year.”

Any person doing a cursory search will land on ICLEI site, those who have even a modicum of internet skills won’t have any trouble at all locating some of the ICLEI materials that are much less guarded against the vigilant eye of those blasted Americans who still hold tight to the idea of national sovereignty and individual rights.

Consensus

The purpose of this meeting was to “build consensus” people showing up with all of those questions and opinions makes the desired “consensus” building impossible.  Why?

They need to gain your agreement (or simply your silence will suffice) to give everything the appearance of legitimacy.

You try to gripe later and they will say –

“Sorry, you should have said something when you had the chance”

This is what I was told was the purpose of such public meetings by a former member of Edmond City government.

She details how “Provocateurs,” “Agitators,” and “Change Agents” are able to force through their agendas right under your nose. She teaches you their lingo and how they use it to divide you from the group and marginalize your honest questions and objections.

Also see Thwart the Delphi Technique

I could waste a whole lot of space demonstrating why citizens are rightfully bewildered when they begin to do a little research on local policy and find the United Nations all over it.  I’m not going to.  It is too easy to discover for even the mildly curious.  In fact GEL can show you in three clicks where the connections are;

http://gelok.org/2.html

Anyone can see why UN and Agenda 21 would be being referenced in a discussion about sustainability.  If they are unwilling to acknowledge the fact that ICLEI’s purpose is to implement Local Agenda 21, a UN program that was not created with the Bill of Rights in mind, then they are a fool or are trying to play you for one.  Don’t waste one bit more of your Co2 arguing about it.

In truth, any of a number of international entities or corporations for that matter, that are pushing their agenda but it is up to our elected representatives or us to draw the line and say no!
