The Baseline Killer

This story will erase any CSI ideas you have about crime labs and the Phoenix story is not an unusual one.

(Recent  Oklahoma story.)

Backlogs are part of the problem along with under staffing and under training.

This is an issue that is worth taking some time to understand because the problems we are discovering in state forensics labs are having heartbreaking consequences.

For case documents and little known facts about the case-go to Freedom’s Phoenix.

more than two years after the arrest of the alleged murderer, Mark Goudeau, one of the detectives currently working on the case has come forward with an explosive claim that he says Phoenix police have gone to great lengths to conceal. According to the detective and other Phoenix police insiders, the last seven murders committed by the Baseline Killer could have been prevented if evidence gathered at one of the early crime scenes had been properly processed by the Phoenix crime lab.

Documents obtained by The Times support those claims and reveal that the DNA evidence used to crack the case and ultimately identify the suspected killer had been in police possession for nine months prior to his arrest.

This egregious instance is not isolated, and it reflects a much larger problem erupting behind the walls of the Phoenix crime lab, sources say.

A massive evidence backlog, lengthy wait times for testing and an increasingly strained relationship between the police department and the lab has jeopardized hundreds of homicide, rape and assault cases, one detective says.

Phoe-Nix the Vax! Activists in AZ Defend First Responders

Smart approach by the AZ activists.  They know that if the first responders are forced to take them, it makes it that much easier to enforce a mandatory vaccination order on the people.

Here is an example of   pro-active and  pre-emptive policy that I approve of!

Way to go AZ activists!

PHOENIX — In the coming days, hundreds of homemade signs opposing mandatory flu shots will appear on streets across the Valley.

The sign campaign is aimed at demonstrating support for first responders that don’t want to take the H1N1 vaccine, according to Ernie Hancock who runs the Libertarian website Freedoms Phoenix.

“I claim what’s in my skin,” said Hancock.  “I will not allow a bureaucrat to force anything to go into my skin without my permission.”

Hancock launched the sign campaign in response to mandatory flu shots for state health care workers in New York and concern over it happening in Arizona.

“I don’t even want to get into whether I’d take the vaccine, it’s not the point,” said Hancock.  “That they would coerce an American to take this vaccine, that’s what I have a problem with.”

Spokespersons for both Phoenix Police and Fire said first responders in their respective departments would not have to take the swine flu vaccine if they don’t want to.

. . .

“We’re going to resist any effort to take an elixir and put it in against their will,” said Hancock.

Until they get an assurance, Hancock says hundreds of the signs will go up in Phoenix and Tucson.
