State’s Giving Feds Trolling Rights to DMV Facial Biometric Databases

Biometrics getting personal

Kaye Beach

June 17, 2013

The Washington Post published what is probably one of the most comprehensive and clear (major media) articles to date on the state departments of motor vehicles’ biometric databases and how they are increasingly being utilized to undermine the presumption of innocence and rob us of our right to be left alone.

State photo-ID databases become troves for police

“Facial-recognition systems are more pervasive and can be deployed remotely, without subjects knowing that their faces have been captured.   Today’s driver’s-license databases, which also include millions of images of people who get non-driver ID cards to open bank accounts or board airplanes, typically were made available for police searches with little public notice.”

The Washington Post reports;

“Thirty-seven states now use facial-recognition technology in their driver’s-license registries, a Washington Post review found. At least 26
of those allow state, local or federal law enforcement agencies to search — or request searches — of photo databases. . .”

The Washington Post also notes that;

“The current version of the Senate’s immigration bill would dramatically expand an electronic photo-verification system, probably relying on access to driver’s-license registries.”

The New York Times reported on this a few days ago;

WASHINGTON — Driver’s license photographs and biographic information of most Americans would be accessible through an expanded Department of Homeland Security nationwide computer network if the immigration legislation pending before the Senate becomes law.

. . . the Senate bill would direct the department to expand the photo program by offering grants to states if they allow the department to tap into their driver’s license photo records

The Constitutional Alliance first sounded  the alarm on April 17th;

“If you want to work, travel, buy, or sell you will be forced to be enrolled into this global system of identification.”

Senate adds high resolution cameras to chamber; unveils other upgrades to heighten transparency

Oklahoma State Senate Press Release

For Immediate Release: November 8, 2012

Private citizens, members of the media and others interested in following the legislative process will find accessing actions in the State Senate easier than ever before, thanks to several new technological upgrades that are now being put in place.

New high resolution cameras have been added in the front and back of the chamber for those following the Senate on the Internet, with new software enabling bill information and links to the text of measures to appear next to the chamber video. The camera angle for the website will change depending on which microphone is being used.

In addition, a new voting board will enable the display of more information, including a full short title and a list of upcoming bills to be heard that day.
“This is part of our ongoing effort to make it easier and simpler for people to see the work that’s being done by their senators,” said Pres. Pro Tempore Brian Bingman. “With each upgrade, we are continuing to make the legislative process more accessible than it’s ever been before.”

Bingman, R-Sapulpa, said the changes also enable the Senate to become more efficient—the display of upcoming bills on the vote board will help members who want to switch from paper copies of legislation to electronic versions.

A new sound board will be tied to the voting board, along with the website and high definition cameras making it possible to archive audio in a more useable format. Archived, searchable audio of the Senate’s legislative sessions will be available on the website beginning with the 2013 session. The new voting and sound boards will also allow enhanced archived audio that will be searchable by bill number. The Senate also has archived digital audio of sessions for the previous ten years available on CD through the Records and Information Division.

“Through the use of digital technology, the Internet and other improvements, the Senate has made tremendous strides in promoting transparency,” said Bingman. “I’m especially proud that we’ve achieved these upgrades through the hard work and talent of our own staff—we really appreciate their effort and dedication.”
These latest upgrades, including the digital cameras for the chamber, will be completed in time for the 2013 legislative session. In September the Senate announced that all committee rooms would now have the equipment to provide streaming audio and video. Additional upgrades mean real time committee votes will be available on the internet. All materials presented in interim studies and committee meetings during the session are also being made available online.

Oklahomans Get New ‘OverSite’ to Stop Terrorism at Sporting Events, Political Rallies

Kaye Beach

Oct. 23, 2012

An article published yesterday by Oklahoma’s News 6 introduces us to a new technology system designed to keep us safe from terrorism as large events such as sporting events, the State Fair and even at political rallies. It’s called “OverSite”

Given the fact that the OverSite system incorporates facial recognition, that ought to be a real hit given that we are governed by an administration that frequently confuses legitimate First Amendment protected activities as possible indicators of terrorism.

Crew Demonstrates Technology Aimed To Pinpoint Terrorists At Large Events

 Oct 22, 2012  News On 6

A sniper with a high-powered rifle was on top of the Case Center at the University of Tulsa on Monday.

He was demonstrating technology that can pinpoint a shooter’s location in a large crowd almost immediately.

The technology comes from Oklahoma company OverSite, and it can protect people from all kinds of terrorist attacks at big events like football games, political rallies, NASCAR races and state fairs.

Interestingly the article provides this boast about the OverSite technology;

“If we’re looking for somebody in a crowd, we have our cameras working, we can find the bad guy, put facial recognition on him, he’s identified, even if beard, mustache, glasses, hat, still gonna catch him,” Eller said. link

Really?  Color me skeptical on that claim.

We need to know, are they using facial recognition on event goers in general or only on legitimate suspects with probable cause?

OverSite’s Trick Camera-SkyCam SpyCam

Closed Facility Aerial Cameras (surveillance) – Few people watching sporting events have failed to see a camera gliding on cables high above the event and crowd providing exciting and unique angles of play and reaction.  SkyCam works with OverSite©  to develop a two-camera capability that appears normal in all ways except that one camera does what SkyCam normally does while the other is individually controlled to watch the audience and scan for faces and/or activities that might be suspect to the well-being of the people and facility. Here is a little more information on OverSite from their official website;

Protecting America’s Infrastructure

The OverSite© technology was created by Triarii Scientific, LLC (TriSci) in response to operational recognition that government agencies ranging from Homeland Security to the Department of Defense have been so overwhelmed protecting our military, training local and national emergency management personnel, finding common communications grounds, etc., that it has not been able to embrace the growing needs of a broad group defined as “Soft Targets.”

OverSite© can provide a broad selection of sensor technologies, timely analysis processes and response mechanisms such as

– Video

– Audio

– Chem-bio

– Radioactive

– Nuclear

Retina scan

        – Facial recognition

– Weather, etc.

– On-site analysis

– Response coordination

– Centralized communications

The technology was tested before in Oklahoma on April 6, 2011;

The OSU University Multispectral Laboratories recently demonstrated the unique capabilities of an integrated mobile security vehicle called OverSite during the simulation of a terror attack at Boone Pickens Stadium on April 6, 2011.

OverSite also had another test run prior to April 6, 2011 and at the Super Bowl XLV, no less.

Prior to the April 6 test, OverSite was also deployed at Super Bowl XLV in Dallas, Texas, where core system integration was tested and improved.

Since the April 6 test, the OverSite Rapid Deployment Module, developed and integrated on behalf of the Oklahoma National Guard’s 63rd Civil Support Team, has been readied for deployment to Maryland

The federal Department of Homeland Security provided the funding for the April 6, 2011 demonstration of OverSite;

The simulation involved members of the Oklahoma Army National Guard Civil Support Team and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, who with the help of OverSite responded to ten different threat scenarios.  The proof of concept demonstration was funded by the Department of Homeland Security.

Industry of fear

. . .As the bullets sped toward their target, a monitor in an RV lit up. The screen flashed a triangular wedge of purple within an image of the stadium’s architectural plan. Todd Lamb, the lieutenant governor of Oklahoma, was (inside the RV, surveying this mobile command post.

. . . Lamb watched as a second purple sliver flashed, and the point where the two slices intersected began to glow. Security cameras swerved their view to the precise spot where the sniper had launched his shot, identifying the section, row and nearest seat to rushing guards. The whole thing took a little more than 15 seconds.

It was just a drill. The sniper was an FBI agent. The crowd noise screamed through loudspeakers. The bullets were pinpointed, quickly and accurately, by an OSU-developed system called OverSite along with software and sensors made by Raytheon, a defense technology and security company. Oklahoma State scientists incubated OverSite at the University Multispectral Laboratories (UML), an unconventional-warfare outfit the school launched in 2006.  After years of research and millions in taxpayer and private money, OSU tested the project in April, demonstrating its impressive results to Lamb, Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin and other policymakers. . . . At today’s games, endless lines await you. Guards search you and, if it’s your unlucky day, grope you. Cameras spy on you. Traffic barriers, pat-downs and metal detectors all carry the same message: You are safer because your surroundings are bear-trapped.

. . . For the companies developing terror-fighting tools, the money and sex appeal are in sci-fi-level detection.

.  . .Since 9/11, these kinds of devices have filled airports, convention halls and corporate headquarters, and now their manufacturers hungrily eye sports arenas. “We see it as an emerging business,” says Mark Desmarais, the program director for Clear View at Raytheon. Security companies know just how to capture that market: scare the hell out of anyone who runs a stadium.

TalkingStickTV – Jesse Trentadue – Death, Lies, and Revenge in Federal Custody

Kaye Beach

Sept. 12, 2012

A must watch!  Video of Jesse Trentadue telling his story below.

On August 18, 1995, Kenneth Trentadue was confined in the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ Federal Transfer Center (“FTC”) in Oklahoma City, after being arrested for a parole violation.  Two days later he was dead. When the Bureau of Prisons ruled his death a suicide his family became alarmed, knowing Kenneth had no reason to end his life. Thus began a 17-year journey to find the truth.  Led by his ever persistent brother Jesse Trentadue, a Salt Lake City attorney, his family began to discover the facts of Kenneth’s death.  Jesse brought forth undisputed physical evidence and key witnesses to indicate his brother’s death was something other than suicide and revealed a government cover-up. A legal battle between the Trentadue family and the Federal Bureau of Prisons, F.B.I., and the Department of Justice ensued. Jesse Trentadue fought tirelessly in an epic battle through the court systems, including three appeals to the 10th Circuit of Court Appeals, seeking justice for his brother.   That justice, however, never came.

Instead, the Trentadue family’s quest for justice for a murdered husband, son and brother, has uncovered a corrupt and ugly side of the U.S. Department of Justice and  F.B.I. that many will have difficulty believing, evidence such as the existence of the “I-Drive,” “S-Drive,” “June Files” and “Zero Files” in which the F.B.I. buries evidence and records to keep those materials out of the hands of defense counsel in criminal cases and away from Freedom of Information Act requests.  Another disturbing fact uncovered by the Trentadue family in their almost two decade long war with the Department of Justice and F.B.I. has  been “PATCON,” an undercover operation involving then Deputy Attorney General Eric Holder that was in place throughout the 1990s.  An acronym for “Patriot Conspiracy,” PATCON was designed to infiltrate and incite the political and religious right so that they could be neutralized as a political force.  Perhaps most disturbing of all is the recent revelation that for many years the F.B.I. has had a program in place, complete with operations manuals, for recruiting and placing informants on the staffs of federal judges, in the offices of United States Senators and Congressman, within the top management of the national media, among the clergy, on defense teams in major criminal prosecutions and inside of local law enforcement and other federal agencies.  The following website provides additional background about the Trentadue case:  http://www.kennethtrentadue.com

Multiple States Get Pre-Crime Robot Cams to Detect Suspicious Behavior and Report to the Authorities

Kaye Beach

June 20, 2012

Throughout history there have been a couple of things that have limited tyrannical governments from implementing any truly pervasive system of surveillance and control upon the populace;  manpower and technology.

The Nazi’s took their  system of cataloging their population (which they used to efficiently slaughter millions of innocent people) to the limits of available manpower and technology.

Anyone who thinks this is a mere privacy issue needs to adjust their thinking cap.  When I contemplate the developing landscape of the public sphere I don’t lament my loss of privacy.  It is my loss of autonomy that I mourn.  Autonomy has been describes as “the desire to avoid being manipulated or dominated wholly by others”  Loss of autonomy means loss of control over one’s own life.

Now we have entered a time where the two greatest hurdles to effective control over the population has been all but eliminated.  As we have witnessed so far, the Bill of Rights, privacy laws or even simple ethics have provided little protection from the onward march of intrusive technology into our lives. We should expect that the forward march of technological tyranny will continue until it hits a wall.

Reported June 19, 2012 by GCN (Government Computer News)

Cities using AI for pre-crime monitoring of surveillance videos

In a real-life twist of the TV show “Person of Interest,” cities around the country are adopting technology to detect and prevent crime before it happens.

In the TV show, a mysterious billionaire and computer genius recruits a former CIA agent to prevent violent crimes in New York using a computer system he built to analyze video surveillance.

In reality, San Francisco; Houston; El Paso, Texas; Birmingham, Ala.; and reportedly the site of the World Trade Center in New York — among other entities — have purchased that kind of software to detect and report “suspicious or abnormal behavior.” The European Union and the Homeland Security Department are also developing their own pre-crime detection systems.

San Francisco’s Municipal Transit Authority (MUNI), the latest purchaser, is using AISight software to continuously monitor more than 150 “objects and activities” at 12 train stations via real-time video feeds.

The software uses artificial intelligence to learn which items and movements could indicate a potential threat. Video clips of suspicious activity and SMS text message alerts are automatically sent to MUNI employees upon detection.

The deal closed in early March, according to an unnamed source, reported Security Systems News. According a San Francisco Chronicle article earlier this month, the five-year deal is worth $3.6 million, although SSN reported it at just over $2 million. It includes support services as well as installation of the software. The system is intended to be forward-compatible with future surveillance technology.

The Race for Nominee – Okla. GOP Insider ‘We must find delegates who will stop Ron Paul’ The Oklahoma Truth Council

Kaye Beach

Jan. 19, 2012

As you already know, in order for any candidate to become president,  he must win the GOP nomination first.   What you might not know is that it is the delegates, not ordinary voters, who will be voting to pick the GOP nominee.  This is where the grassroots activists passion and mettle can make all the difference.

Yesterday I was given the opportunity to explain the importance of the delegate process to other Ron Paul supporters on Inforwars Nightly News with Aaron Dykes. You can access that video here

Oklahoma Ron Paul grassroots caught the eye of the popular news site when Tulsa area activists for Paul wrote this article, How to Get Ron Paul Elected, that Infowars subsequently published.

The Oklahoma GOP Precinct meetings begin the first week of February.  Find out more.

The Oklahoma Truth Council has posted a very good article explaining the process and its pitfalls.

From the Oklahoma Truth Council posted on Jan. 16, 2012;

Delegate Decision

The Race for Nominee is Not Over… It’s Barely Started!

Oklahoma Precinct Meetings have not even taken place, yet the battle for Oklahoma’s votes for the Republican nomination for President are already in contention. While much focus has been placed on the actual “voting” for President, sources inside the Oklahoma Republican Party have confirmed that Super Tuesday is not where the battle is being fought.

New rules adopted by the Oklahoma Republican Party state that while Delegates to the National Convention must vote in accordance with the mathematical split will of the Oklahoma Electorate, they are only required to do so through the second round of balloting. On the third ballot, delegates are free to vote for the nominee of their choice.

This, added to the fact that many states changed their rules to similar formats like Oklahoma means that if no candidate has the required 1,144 delegate votes at the time of the convention, then it will be the delegates and NOT the voters who actually select the nominee for President.

While the press seems to be determined to proclaim that Mitt Romney is the de facto nominee for winning two states, the fact is that the proportional delegate counts from New Hampshire and Iowa makes the race extremely close. Romney leads with 14 delegates, Paul has 10 delegates, Rick Santorum has 8 delegates, Huntsman, Gingrich, and Perry each have two delegates.

This has led some within the Republican Party to begin shaping the delegate pool to insure that they have people on board to “play ball.” There are even reports that the recruitment of delegates is at the exclusion of one candidate. One Republican Party insider even stated that “we must find delegates who will stop Ron Paul.”

Tonight Howard and I  have two very special guests lined up for you;

First Michal Badnarik,  Constitutional Scholar and the author of Good to be King, a beginner’s guide to the Constitution and the Bill of RightsHe is going to tell us about Operation Domino Effect, an effort to infuse state capitols of this nation with the US Constitution.  I am proud to say that Oklahoma is domino #1!

Michael Badnarik’s Constitution Class at the OK State Capitol Jan 14, 2012

When I was in Pennsylvania for a conference in 2010 I had the opportunity to meet and talk with Michael.  The first thing I asked him about was the  heart attack he suffered in 2009.  He shouldn’t have made it through but he did.  Michael will share with us what he took away from that experience and I think you will find his take very interesting.  Michael Badnarik has been a Software Engineer, a Radio Talk Show Host, a Skydiving Instructor and worked on the Stealth Bomber project with secret clearance.  He was the upstart who won the  Libertarian Party nomination for US President in 2004.   We are going to learn more about Michael Badnarik tonight and find out where he has chosen to direct his considerable energies these days and why.

Go to ConstitutionPreservation.org to find out more about Micheal Badnarik and how he is “Lighting the fires of Liberty, one heart at a time” all across America!

Next up  is Andrew Griffin, our very Red Dirt Reporter.  Andrew has been putting out some powerful articles that have gained him nationwide attention.

Of particular interest to us is the recent story about the Oklahoma City Bombing Investigation Committee’s website being listed as “misc extremists” in a set of Fusion Center resource documents.   Andrew is going to give us the scoop!

AxXiom For Liberty Call In Number 512-646-1984

Howard and I gave some attention to this topic on our October 21, 2011 show.

Citing concerns with the health effects, privacy, safety and accuracy, some residents are telling their utility company NO!  They do not want the new meters installed and they say they are being told that unless they comply, they will lose service.

Here is the audio for that show;

“Smart” meters are electronic devices that track and record a customer’s electric use.   Smart meters collects detailed information on energy use at individual buildings and has two-way communications with the utility.

I received a call from a gentlemen last week who told me how he was pressured by an OG&E meter reader to install a smart meter on his house.  This man has a notice on his current analog meter stating that he does not want a smart meter installed and he has sent in a certified letter stating the same to OG&E.  The OG&E employee at first refused to give his name or to call his supervisor as requested by the homeowner but finally relented and the smart meter was not installed on the man’s home.

If you have a complaint about your smart meter in Oklahoma.  You can file a complaint with the Corporation Commission at  www.occeweb.com  Click on “Complaints”  “Public Utilities” and fill out the form.

One lady in central Oklahoma submitted her concerns to the Corporation Commission and asked about relocating the meter on her house.  She shared the response with us.

Thank you for your e-mailed correspondence regarding Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company (OG&E).
I have reviewed your concerns regarding Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company (OG&E) and I understand your objection to the implementation of the Smart Meter Program.
However, there are no provisions that allow a consumer to opt out of the use of a smart meter. (Emphasis added) Additionally, if a meter is moved for the convenience of a consumer, in accordance with the rules of the Commission, the consumer will bear that cost.However, as a courtesy, I have forwarded this matter to the Company for review. You may be contacted by a representative of the Company to further discuss your concerns.
I hope that this matter can be resolved to your satisfaction.

People are being told that Oklahoma’s Smart Meter/Grid system is substantially different from other states and avoids some of the more pressing concerns present with other systems.  I have seen no evidence that this is true but will be following up on these claims.

OG&E  has selected Acatel-Lucent to build its communication system for the smart grid.
OG&E, Alcatel-Lucent, Osmose and ABB] OG&E selects communications, field inventory and DMS partners for smart grid
Alcatel-Lucent will work with OG&E’s WAN team to build a multi-tiered IP/MPLS communications network across the utility’s 30,000 square mile service territory. The network will include a 6.0 gigahertz, point-to-point microwave backbone system, plus a 3.65 gigahertz point-to-multipoint layer. The WAN will transport two-way data traffic from smart devices on the power delivery distribution system to enable real-time automation and advanced metering.

Alcatel Lucent, in its promotional materials explains the purpose and abilities of smart meters;

Smart Metering for Energy Utilities will allow operators to educate and financially incent consumers to be more aware of their energy usage. Ultimately, it could allow a limited level of control over non-critical load, thereby increasing the reliability of supply and asset utilization efficiency.
•Access and Backhaul Networking:
•Allows bi-directional communication —ultimately enabling the utility to not only measure consumption, but also to actively influence or control it.
•Meter Data Management:
•The meter data management system manages the collection of metering data and organizes it: by customer, customer type, geography, retailer or any other relevant criteria.
•Tariff Management:
•Allows providers to charge flexibly for electricity service—structuring tariffs in ways that ultimately change energy consumption.
•Asset Management:
•The asset management system allows operators to keep track of their many assets and the interconnections of those assets to form smart metering network.

Alcatel Lucent  (the same guys implementing Oklahoma’s Smart meter/grid communications system) has a very interesting document turn up in WikiLeaks’ newly released “Spyfiles”

 Alcatel-Lucent Unified Lawful Interception Suite

1357 ULIS adds lawful interception functions to Alcatel-Lucent products, adapting their internal interfaces to the standard lawful interception interfaces of law enforcement agency monitoring facilities.

It sounds like something out of Hollywood, but as of today, mass interception systems, built by Western intelligence contractors, including for ’political opponents’ are a reality.
